Dr Elizabeth Boughton is a highly qualified detail-oriented biomedical innovation professional with PhD (Tissue Engineering), BE(Biomed) and BSc (Physics). She founded Global Surgical Innovations with clinicians to commercialise 3D bioscaffold technology she invented for reconstruction of both soft and hard tissues. She has acted as senior consultant to a wide range of companies, from early stage startups through to large multinationals.

Her broad experience includes R&D for medical devices, including cross-disciplinary implant ideation/design, pre-clinical biocompatibility testing (including in vitro/in vivo studies) and failure analysis. She is skilled in setting up ISO13485 Quality Management Systems, technical risk management and drafting patents.

While working for Optimised Ortho (now acquired by Corin), she was involved with major capital raising from government ($2 Million) and contributed to the successful awarding of ISO 13485 and CE mark for novel surgical planning technologies. She was also instrumental in supporting the Biomed Engineering program at University of Sydney and Charles Perkins Centre Instigated Master’s Health Technology Innovation she was lecturer for.
